A print of “The Lady of Shalott” by John William Waterhouse on your wall
Red hair, a white dress, a boat gliding among the reeds and guttering candles - The Lady of Shalott is one of the most romantic paintings of the nineteenth century. John William Waterhouse filled the picture with melancholy and the green of an English river, which is why a print of The Lady of Shalott sits so beautifully in a bedroom, boudoir, reading room or living room in the English or cottagecore style. Deep green, olive, dusky pink and old gold suit velvet, floral fabrics, dark wood and brass lamps. The wide crop looks good in a panoramic format above the bed, and wallpaper carries the riverbank into the whole room. On Dibond the painting keeps its painterly softness; 5 mm acrylic glass adds depth to the water. It is also a well-chosen gift for lovers of literature. Enter any size in the artMonte configurator.

The Lady of Shalott
About the artwork
The painting of 1888 illustrates Alfred Tennyson's ballad about a maiden confined to a tower who, on pain of a curse, could view the world only in a mirror. John William Waterhouse showed the moment when the heroine, having abandoned her loom, drifts in a boat towards Camelot, the guttering candles foretelling her fate. The lush nature, the tapestry draped over the gunwale and the pensive face combine Pre-Raphaelite influences with plein-air realism. It is the most famous of the three versions of the subject, held in Tate Britain in London.
