Clear acrylic glass 5 mm

5 mm acrylic glass is the most luxurious material at artMonte. We print the artwork onto the reverse of a crystal-clear acrylic (PMMA) sheet and then back it with a white underprint. You view the image through a five-millimetre sheet - hence the effect of depth, glassy gloss and colours that literally glow. Klimt's gold, Van Gogh's cobalts and Hokusai's blue take on an intensity that no other material can deliver.

Acrylic is lighter and many times more shatter-resistant than glass, and the polished edges catch the light. Acrylic glass looks best in modern and prestigious interiors - in the living room, study or reception. Mounting on chrome or black standoffs emphasises the three-dimensional character of the picture.

Who it is for

Acrylic glass 5 mm is the choice for anyone who wants the picture to “glow”. The thick acrylic sheet acts like a lens: colours gain depth, Klimt's gold and van Gogh's cobalts take on a new radiance, and whites become brighter than on any other material. It suits modern, minimalist interiors, lofts, offices and hotels - wherever the picture is meant to be the focal point of the wall. It looks best in diffused light, away from direct sunlight.

Hanging and care

The print is applied to the back of the sheet and sealed with a white backing, so the colour layer is completely enclosed beneath 5 mm of acrylic - it cannot be scratched or washed off. You hang the picture on spacers or a rail (mounting hardware is bought separately - it is not part of the set); seen from the side, it shows polished, crystal-clear edges. Clean it with a soft microfibre cloth and water or an acrylic cleaner - never with spirit or ammonia-based glass cleaners.

Printing and durability

Clear acrylic glass 5 mm with polished edges, mirror-image UV print on the reverse, backed with a white opaque layer. UV inks resist fading, and the acrylic transmits over 90% of light, so the print looks as if it were behind glass in a gallery - yet it weighs half as much as glass and will not shatter in transit or during hanging.
