A print of “Red Fuji” by Katsushika Hokusai on your wall
Three colours - red, green and blue - were all Hokusai needed to create one of Japan's most recognisable icons. A Red Fuji print is wall art for Japandi, Zen and modern minimalist interiors, where breathing space and simplicity matter. As bedroom wall art this Hokusai print brings calm, and as living room art it creates a strong, graphic focal point above a low sideboard. The horizontal format of the woodblock scales superbly to a wide panorama, while the peak cropped to a square gives a modern, poster-like version. On Dibond we preserve the matt character of Japanese paper; 5 mm acrylic glass intensifies the contrast between the red and the sky. Fuji wallpaper is the way to a spectacular wall in a study or yoga studio. Enter any dimensions in the artMonte configurator and we will print the work exactly to measure.
Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849)
Red Fuji
About the artwork
The peak of Mount Fuji, tinged brick red by the rays of the morning sun, rises against a sky covered in rhythmic rows of clouds. Katsushika Hokusai's woodblock print was made around 1830-1832 as part of the series Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji. Through an extreme reduction of form - the mountain, the forest at its foot, the sky - the composition achieves a monumental simplicity. Alongside The Great Wave off Kanagawa it is the best-known image in Japanese ukiyo-e art.
