A print of “Asakusa Ricefields and Torinomachi Festival” by Utagawa Hiroshige on your wall
The white of a cat's fur against a golden sky, the green of the fields and the blue of evening - this Hiroshige print has a silence in it that big cities lack. A print of Asakusa Ricefields and Torinomachi Festival suits a reading room, a bedroom with paper lamps, a café with glass and pale wood, and a corridor where you want to make a guest pause for a moment. The composition is vertical, so we recommend a vertical crop in the proportions of the original, which keeps both the cat and Fuji on the horizon. A print on Dispa board, a cardboard-based, eco-friendly medium, looks like a modern version of Japanese paper, while 5 mm acrylic glass adds brilliance to the sunset sky. Japanese wall art in a size you set yourself - in the artMonte configurator you enter the centimetres, and we print exactly for your spot.

Asakusa Ricefields and Torinomachi Festival
About the artwork
From the window of a house in the Yoshiwara district a white cat looks out over rice fields through which a procession passes to the Torinomachi festival at a nearby shrine. In the distance, against the sunset sky, Fuji shines white, and by the window lie hairpins in the shape of kumade rakes, bought on that day for good luck. The print comes from the series One Hundred Famous Views of Edo and was published in 1857, a year before Hiroshige's death.
