A print of “Kinryūzan Temple, Asakusa” by Utagawa Hiroshige on your wall
A red lantern, white snow and a slender pagoda in the background - this winter scene from Asakusa has the magic of a Japanese festival. A print of Kinryūzan Temple, Asakusa is Hiroshige wall art that brings the contrast of warm red and cool white into a room, which is why it looks so good in a living room, hallway or dining room decorated in the Japandi or modern classic style. It suits light grey and white walls, black accessories and brick-coloured accents. The composition is naturally vertical, so it fills narrow walls and the spaces between windows well. As wallpaper this Japanese woodblock print turns an ordinary wall into a gateway to old Edo. Dibond renders the matt quality of the paper; 5 mm acrylic glass gives the red the intensity of lacquer. In the artMonte configurator you set the exact dimensions of the print, fitted to your space.

Kinryūzan Temple, Asakusa
About the artwork
Through the Kaminarimon gate, with its huge red lantern hanging above, we see the snow-covered courtyard of Sensō-ji temple, also known as Kinryūzan, and its five-storey pagoda. Worshippers with umbrellas make their way towards the main hall across fresh snow. The woodblock print from the series One Hundred Famous Views of Edo, published in 1856, uses the device characteristic of late Hiroshige of framing the view with a foreground element. It is one of the most recognisable depictions of Tokyo's oldest temple, visited by crowds of pilgrims to this day.
