A print of “Ejiri in Suruga Province” by Katsushika Hokusai on your wall
Can you paint the wind? Hokusai proved that you can - all it takes is a few flying sheets of paper and the bowed figures of travellers. A print of Ejiri in Suruga Province brings movement and gentle humour into a room, which is why it works so well as wall art for a study, office or modern living room. Muted beiges, olive greens and the blue of the sky suit walls in ecru, grey and warm walnut wood. This Japanese woodblock print looks best in a horizontal crop, and stretched into a wide panorama as wallpaper it turns a corridor into a landscape full of air. Printing on Dibond gives an elegant, matt gallery effect, while 5 mm acrylic glass boosts the contrast and saturation of the colours. Hokusai wall art that starts conversations with your guests. In the artMonte configurator you enter your own size to the centimetre and order a print perfectly fitted to the spot.

Ejiri in Suruga Province
About the artwork
A sudden gust of wind snatches sheets of paper and the hat of one of the travellers, who bend on an embankment among thin, bowed trees. Mount Fuji is sketched in the background with only a thin, straight line, contrasting with the chaos of the foreground. The woodblock print from the series Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji, published around 1830-1832, is among Hokusai's most dynamic scenes. Capturing the invisible force of the elements through the movement of figures and objects later inspired many Western artists, including contemporary photographers.
