A print of “Suruga-chō (One Hundred Famous Views of Edo)” by Utagawa Hiroshige on your wall
Indigo, blue and the white of mist, and above it all Fuji within arm's reach - Hiroshige's Suruga-chō is a Japanese woodblock print that orders an interior with a single clean perspective. As a picture for a hallway or a narrow wall between windows it introduces depth; in a japandi or minimalist room it harmonises with pale wood, linen and black; and in a restaurant with Asian cuisine or a Scandinavian-style office it builds a calm, orderly atmosphere. A print of One Hundred Famous Views of Edo calls for a vertical crop, because the whole power of the composition lies in the street converging on the mountain. PVC board gives a light, moisture-resistant picture for a kitchen or bathroom, and Dibond conveys the matt, papery nobility of ukiyo-e. In the artMonte configurator you give the exact dimensions and we print the view of Edo for your wall.

About the artwork
A crowd of passers-by flows along a shopping street in the Nihonbashi district of Edo, on both sides stretch the stalls of the Echigoya merchant house, forerunner of today's Mitsukoshi department stores, and above, over a band of mist, rises the snowy cone of Mount Fuji. The woodblock print of 1856 belongs to the series One Hundred Famous Views of Edo, Hiroshige's last great work. The bold vertical perspective and the foreshortening of the street leading straight to the mountain later delighted the European Impressionists.
