A print of “Mishima Pass in Kai Province” by Katsushika Hokusai on your wall
An enormous tree, a handful of people and a mountain that calmly watches everything from afar - this scene has something of a parable about humility before nature. A print of Mishima Pass in Kai Province is wall art for a study, library or living room furnished with natural materials in mind. The browns of the bark, the deep navy of the mountain and the greens of the slopes combine beautifully with wood, stone, linen and dark green walls. Hokusai wall art that is worth printing horizontally in its classic proportions, although the strong vertical trunk means a portrait crop retains the power of the original too. As wallpaper, the motif of this Japanese woodblock print brings a sense of space into the room. Dibond gives a refined matt finish; 5 mm acrylic glass, intense, lustrous colour. In the artMonte configurator you can set any dimensions and the print is made for your specific wall.

About the artwork
Several travellers wrap their arms around the mighty trunk of a cedar, trying to measure its girth, while others rest at its foot. Beyond the tree, which cuts the composition with a vertical accent, stretches the blue silhouette of Mount Fuji surrounded by stylised clouds. The woodblock print from the series Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji, published around 1830-1832, sets human scale against the vastness of nature. The bold cutting of the image by the tree trunk testifies to a compositional daring on Hokusai's part that was ahead of its time.
