A print of “Fukami Jikyū Challenges the Moon (One Hundred Aspects of the Moon)” by Tsukioka Yoshitoshi on your wall
One warrior, one moon and a tension you can feel in every line. Tsukioka Yoshitoshi built this picture from the series One Hundred Aspects of the Moon on the contrast between the bright disc and the dark silhouette, so the Japanese woodblock print reads from a distance like a contemporary poster. A print of Fukami Jikyū Challenges the Moon looks superb in masculine interiors, studies, games rooms and modern living rooms kept in black, graphite grey and warm ochre. The vertical format heightens the drama of the figure, while a square crop focuses attention on the moon. On 5 mm acrylic glass the disc takes on luminosity, Dibond gives precision and durability, and wallpaper brings the samurai in at larger than life. Wall art for lovers of Japanese culture, martial arts and strong graphic art. Set the dimensions freely in the artMonte configurator.

About the artwork
The woodblock print of 1887 belongs to Tsukioka Yoshitoshi's series “One Hundred Aspects of the Moon”, regarded as the crowning achievement of late ukiyo-e. The samurai Fukami Jikyū, in an open kimono with a sword at his side, stands against the huge disc of the moon as if challenging it. The bold composition and expressive figure show how Yoshitoshi combined the old tradition with a new, almost cinematic treatment of the figure. The impression comes from the collection of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
