A print of “The Fighting Temeraire” by J. M. W. Turner on your wall
A sunset in shades of copper, saffron and amber, and against it the silvery hull of a legendary warship - The Fighting Temeraire is a painting about the passing of time that works on the imagination like a good film. Turner painted the picture with light, which is why a print of The Fighting Temeraire feels most at home on 5 mm acrylic glass, where the sky positively glows on the wall. The Dibond version is calmer and more painterly, ideal for a study, library or English-style living room. The horizontal format suits a space above a fireplace, sofa or desk, and a panoramic crop fills a long wall in a corridor well. A gift for a sailor, a lover of naval history or a boss who appreciates class? It is hard to find better wall art. The warm palette also impresses as wallpaper in a dining room. Order it in any size - the artMonte configurator accepts any dimensions.

The Fighting Temeraire
About the artwork
The Fighting Temeraire shows a former ship of the line, a veteran of the Battle of Trafalgar, being towed by a dark steam tug to the breaker's yard. J. M. W. Turner painted the picture in 1839, setting the pale, almost ghostly silhouette of the ship against a blazing sunset over the Thames. The scene is read as an elegy for the end of the age of sail and the coming of the age of steam. The canvas, held in the National Gallery in London, is among the most admired works of British Romanticism.
