A print of “The Storm on the Sea of Galilee” by Rembrandt van Rijn on your wall
Waves climb the gunwale, the sail billows and a shaft of light breaks through the clouds - The Storm on the Sea of Galilee is the most dynamic Rembrandt painting you can hang at home. The original vanished after a theft in 1990, so a print of The Storm on the Sea of Galilee is today one of the few ways to see it in its full glory. Deep greens, graphite and golden flashes of light suit dark, club-like interiors, a study with heavy furniture and a bedroom in the dark academia style. The vertical crop fills the space between windows or above a fireplace well. On 5 mm acrylic glass the light above the boat positively explodes; on Dibond the noble half-light of the Dutch master prevails. Wallpaper with a detail of the waves is also a great fit for a sailor's room. Choose any dimensions in the artMonte configurator - we will prepare the wall art to your centimetres.

The Storm on the Sea of Galilee
About the artwork
The Storm on the Sea of Galilee shows a boat carrying Christ and the apostles tossed by the waves, its sail torn by the wind. Rembrandt painted it in 1633 - it is his only known seascape. The contrast between the dark, churning water and the band of light on the bow of the boat conveys both the terror of the elements and the drama of faith. The painting disappeared in 1990 after a theft from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston and has never been recovered.
