A print of “Rain, Steam and Speed - The Great Western Railway” by J. M. W. Turner on your wall
Movement, mist and golden light from which a black locomotive emerges - this is a painting you feel more than you look at. J. M. W. Turner painted Rain, Steam and Speed like a vision of the future, which is why a print of this canvas combines the classic and the modern so well. It works as wall art for a study, office, modern living room or the room of a lover of railways and engineering. Warm ochres, honeyed gold and smoky greys harmonise with concrete, black steel, leather and walnut wood. The horizontal crop naturally asks for a panorama above a sofa or desk, and wallpaper fills a wall with luminous mist. On Dibond it keeps its matt softness; on 5 mm acrylic glass the light begins to literally shine. You choose the dimensions freely in the artMonte configurator.

Rain, Steam and Speed - The Great Western Railway
About the artwork
The canvas of 1844 shows a locomotive speeding across the railway bridge at Maidenhead over the Thames, amid rain and mist. J. M. W. Turner dissolved the forms in swirling light and colour, and only the dark locomotive emerging from the vapour remains sharply outlined. The painting is regarded as one of the first great manifestations of modernity in painting and a herald of Impressionism, conveying the wonder and unease of the age of the Industrial Revolution. It belongs to the collection of the National Gallery in London.
