A print of “Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose” by John Singer Sargent on your wall
The violet of dusk, the warm globes of the lanterns and the white of the dresses among tall lilies - Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose is one of the most tender paintings of a summer evening ever made. A Sargent print brings that mood into a child's room, an English-style bedroom with floral wallpapers, a living room with furniture in ivory and mint green. The almost square crop looks good above a chest of drawers, above a bed and paired with a mirror in a hall; in a large format it works in the family room of a boutique hotel. 5 mm acrylic glass makes the lanterns really glow - the light penetrates the acrylic and draws the orange out of the violet background; Dibond keeps the velvety, matt character of dusk. A Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose poster is also a touching gift for new parents. You set any dimension in the artMonte configurator, and we print for your wall.

Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose
About the artwork
Two little girls in white dresses light Japanese lanterns at dusk among lilies, roses and carnations in a garden at Broadway in Worcestershire. Sargent painted the picture for only a few minutes each evening, when the light was right, over the two seasons of 1885 and 1886; the sitters were Dolly and Polly Barnard, daughters of his friend, an illustrator. The title comes from a popular song of the time. The canvas, bought for the national collection in 1887, today belongs to Tate Britain.
