A print of “Proserpine” by Dante Gabriel Rossetti on your wall
The deep green of the gown, the copper gleam of the hair and one red accent of pomegranate - a print of Proserpine brings an air of mystery to an interior that no other decoration can achieve. Rossetti's painting is most at home in a bedroom or boudoir, next to dark furniture, velvet and brass accessories, but it also works as wall art in a beauty salon or a boutique hotel room. The slender vertical format of this work calls for a narrow wall beside a mirror or by the headboard of a bed. On Dibond the matt surface renders the velvety depth of the green with no reflections at all; on 5 mm acrylic glass the light penetrates the acrylic layer and Proserpine's hair literally begins to shine. It is also one of the most beautiful romantic gifts in the wall poster category. In the artMonte configurator you enter any dimension, and we fit the print to your wall to the centimetre.

Proserpine
About the artwork
Proserpine stands in the half-light of the underworld, holding a bitten pomegranate - the symbol of what sealed her fate. Having eaten its seeds, she must spend part of the year at Hades' side, and the shaft of light on the left is the only trace of the world she has left behind. Rossetti painted the Tate Britain version in 1874 with Jane Morris as the model; he returned to the subject many times, attaching his own sonnet to the painting. It is one of the most recognisable Pre-Raphaelite canvases.
