A print of “Umezawa in Sagami Province” by Katsushika Hokusai on your wall
In Japan cranes are a symbol of happiness and long life, and Umezawa in Sagami Province unites them with the majesty of Fuji in a single, exceptionally gentle frame. This print makes a well-chosen gift for a wedding, housewarming or anniversary, and at home it works beautifully as wall art for a bedroom or dining room. Pastel blues, sage green and the delicate pink of the mist harmonise with bright, natural interiors, rattan and cream fabrics. Hokusai's Japanese woodblock print is best printed in a horizontal format, although a square crop focused on the cranes and the mountain peak is impressive too. As wallpaper it creates a calm backdrop for a Japandi-style living room. Dibond emphasises the papery texture; 5 mm acrylic glass adds depth to the sky. Hokusai wall art with good energy. Choose any size in the artMonte configurator and we will prepare the print exactly to measure.

About the artwork
In the foreground, on a marshy meadow, a flock of cranes rests while two more glide towards Mount Fuji, whose peak rises above bands of pinkish mist. In Japanese culture the crane symbolises longevity and good fortune, as does the sacred mountain itself. The woodblock print from the series Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji, published around 1830-1832, delights with its subtle transitions of blue and green. It is among Hokusai's most lyrical and serene landscapes, in which nature and symbolism intertwine into a harmonious whole.
