A print of “Fuji from Gotenyama at Shinagawa on the Tokaido” by Katsushika Hokusai on your wall
Spring in Japan smells of cherry blossom, and Hokusai captured that mood in a cheerful hanami scene on Gotenyama hill. A print of Fuji from Gotenyama is wall art for a living room, dining room or family room that warms the interior instantly. The powdery pinks of the sakura, the greens of the hill and the blue of the bay combine superbly with beige, cream, pale wood and sage-coloured accessories. The figure-filled composition looks best in a horizontal format, and stretched into a panorama as wallpaper it turns a wall into a spring garden. On Dibond the Japanese woodblock print gains a refined, matt character; on 5 mm acrylic glass the cherry blossom takes on luminosity. Hokusai wall art for those who want spring all year round. In the artMonte configurator you choose any dimensions and we print the picture exactly for your interior.

Fuji from Gotenyama at Shinagawa on the Tokaido
About the artwork
Gotenyama hill in Shinagawa, a famous spot for admiring cherry blossom, is filled with strollers, picnicking groups and travellers. The pink crowns of the trees frame the view of Edo Bay and the distant peak of Fuji. The woodblock print from the series Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji, published around 1830-1832, documents the tradition of hanami, the shared celebration of the cherry blossom season. In it Hokusai combines the observation of the customs of Edo's inhabitants with landscape, showing the mountain as a constant point of reference in daily life.
