A print of “Three Beauties of the Present Day” by Kitagawa Utamaro on your wall
Looking for wall art that brings the calm and refinement of the Far East into a room? Three Beauties of the Present Day is a classic Japanese woodblock print in which Kitagawa Utamaro enclosed an image of female beauty in three gentle oval faces and intricate hairstyles. A print of Three Beauties of the Present Day pairs beautifully with warm white, beige, pale wood and the Japandi style, which is why it works as wall art for a bedroom, dressing room or cosy living room. The vertical crop emphasises the slenderness of the composition, and on 5 mm acrylic glass the pearly background gains a depth reminiscent of the mica of the original. Dibond provides a matt, museum-like elegance, and large-scale wallpaper turns an alcove into a gallery of ukiyo-e art. In the artMonte configurator you enter any dimensions and immediately see how Utamaro's work will look on your wall.

About the artwork
Kitagawa Utamaro's woodblock print of around 1793 shows the three most famous beauties of Edo at the time: the geisha Tomimoto Toyohina and two teahouse waitresses, Takashima Hisa and Naniwaya Kita. The faces, differing only in subtle nuances, are arranged in a tight pyramid against a mica-dusted background that gives the print a delicate sheen. It is one of the best-known works of the bijinga genre, in which Utamaro proved that individuality can be captured in almost identical features.
