Ernst Haeckel

German biologist, philosopher and draughtsman, professor of zoology at Jena and populariser of the theory of evolution. His album Kunstformen der Natur (1899-1904), with lithographs of marine organisms, birds and plants, became one of the most important sources of inspiration for Art Nouveau.
