A print of “Jellyfish (Discomedusae)” by Ernst Haeckel on your wall
An orange-pink jellyfish on an inky ground, its arms falling like silk fringes - this is a picture that turns a bathroom into an underwater grotto. Haeckel's jellyfish look best in rooms with dark, matt surfaces: a bathroom with black fittings and a stone worktop, a bedroom in deep green and navy, a boutique hotel lobby with spot lighting. The plate is vertical; in a tall crop it gains drama, and as wallpaper the jellyfish will fill the whole wall from floor to ceiling, with no visible joins in the image. 5 mm acrylic glass is the natural choice here: the glossy sheet gives the effect of an aquarium, and the black of the ground takes on a depth in which the jellyfish really seems to swim. You set the size yourself in the artMonte configurator - enter the dimensions and the print is made exactly for that wall.

Jellyfish (Discomedusae)
About the artwork
Against a black ground floats a great jellyfish with a pink-orange bell and long, tangled arms that fall like ribbons of lace; smaller specimens accompany it. Haeckel named this species Desmonema annasethe in honour of his wife Anna Sethe, who died in 1864. Plate 8 appeared in the first instalment of Kunstformen der Natur (1899) and is today one of the best-known plates in the album. Its undulating lines directly anticipate the ornaments of Art Nouveau.
