A print of “Cabbage Rose (Rosa centifolia)” by Pierre-Joseph Redouté on your wall
The salmon pink of the petals, the juicy green of the leaves and the milky white of the ground - Redouté's Cabbage Rose is a picture that smells of June. This botanical print suits a kitchen with white fronts and a marble worktop, a French country dining room with whitewashed wood, a bedroom in powder pinks and a guest room in a bed and breakfast. The print is vertical and intimate; we recommend it in a pair or trio with other Redouté flowers, in identical sizes, above a chest of drawers or a table. Dispa board conveys the papery softness of the original and is eco-friendly, while Dibond adds a matt, gallery-like gravity. A Redouté poster in dimensions matched to your wall: enter them in the artMonte configurator and we will print the prints exactly as you planned them.

Cabbage Rose (Rosa centifolia)
About the artwork
A full, globular rose with dozens of salmon-pink petals opens on a stem with a bud and dark green leaves, against a clean white ground. Redouté, court flower painter to the Empress Joséphine, included the print in the album Choix des plus belles fleurs (1827-1833), a selection of chosen flowers and fruits. The impression was made by the stipple technique, printed in colour and finished by hand, which gives velvety transitions of tone. Known as the Raphael of flowers, Redouté set the standard for botanical illustration for a whole century.
