A print of “Ambassadeurs: Aristide Bruant in His Cabaret” by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec on your wall
A black hat, a red scarf and a gaze full of self-confidence - Toulouse-Lautrec's Aristide Bruant is one of the most distinctive posters in history. A print of Ambassadeurs: Aristide Bruant in His Cabaret suits a masculine study, an industrial-style living room, a bar, pub or music club perfectly. The red and black of the original harmonise with brick, leather, dark wood and warm-toned lighting. The large, vertical format delights above a sofa, in a hall or as the focal point of a wall in a venue. This vintage poster on Dibond keeps its raw, graphic power, and on 5 mm acrylic glass the red gains intensity. Enlarged wallpaper gives an interior the atmosphere of a Parisian cabaret. Ambassadeurs: Aristide Bruant in His Cabaret
About the artwork
The poster of 1892 announced the performances of the singer Aristide Bruant at the elegant cabaret Les Ambassadeurs on the Champs-Élysées. Bruant is shown in his stage costume: a wide black hat, a cape and a red scarf. According to tradition it was the performer himself who forced the management to accept Toulouse-Lautrec's bold design. The monumental, simplified figure, strong contrasts and flat areas of colour made this lithograph one of the most recognisable images of Parisian bohemia.
