A print of “The Boulevard Montmartre at Night” by Camille Pissarro on your wall
The navy of night, the golden lights of street lamps and wet cobbles gleaming like a mirror - The Boulevard Montmartre at Night is Paris at its most atmospheric. Pissarro devoted the picture to the bustle of the metropolis, so a print of The Boulevard Montmartre at Night suits modern interiors perfectly: lofts, city apartments, a study or an office. The dark palette of navy blues, black and amber combines well with graphite walls, leather, metal and warm lighting, and in a bedroom it creates an intimate, evening mood. The proportions of the canvas favour a slightly horizontal crop, which can be stretched into a panorama above a sofa or bar. As wallpaper the motif gives the effect of a window overlooking a nocturnal metropolis. On 5 mm acrylic glass the street lamps gain their glow, and Dibond gives the whole a matt, elegant depth. Choose any dimensions in the artMonte configurator - we will print exactly what you need.

The Boulevard Montmartre at Night
About the artwork
The rain-soaked boulevard reflects the lights of street lamps and shop windows, and lines of carriages vanish into the deep blue of the city. In 1897 Pissarro painted a series of views of the Boulevard Montmartre at different times of day and in different weather from the window of a hotel room. This is the only night scene in the cycle and one of the few nocturnes of Impressionism. The painting captures in an extraordinary way the modern Paris, lit by artificial light and pulsing with life even after dark.
