A print of “Madonna” by Edvard Munch on your wall
Deep navy, black and the warm red of the halo - Munch's Madonna is wall art that does not pretend to be decoration but immediately sets the character of an interior. A print of Munch's Madonna looks best in a living room, bedroom or loft studio with a darker, moody colour scheme: graphite walls, walnut wood, leather and brass lamps let it shine. It also goes well with a bright Scandinavian background, where it becomes the only strong accent. We recommend a vertical crop in a large format, close to the proportions of the original. On 5 mm acrylic glass the undulating lines and dark background gain depth and a glassy sheen, while on Dibond a Munch painting takes on a matt, museum gravity. In the artMonte configurator you enter the dimensions of your wall and choose exactly the part of the figure you want before your eyes.

Madonna
About the artwork
A half-naked woman with closed eyes and her arms folded behind her head emerges from a dark background, and around her head floats a red halo. Munch painted the first version in 1894-1895 as part of the Frieze of Life cycle, devoted to love, anxiety and death; five painted versions were made, as well as the famous lithograph with a border of spermatozoa and a foetus. The painting in the Nasjonalmuseet in Oslo unites the sacred with the erotic and remains one of the most important works of Symbolism.
