A print of “The Swan, No. 17” by Hilma af Klint on your wall
Pink, blue, yellow and green enclosed in a black and white circle - Hilma af Klint's The Swan, No. 17 is an abstraction that was ahead of its time and still looks modern today. Wall art in a square crop perfectly fills the wall above the sofa in a living room, the spot above the bed in a bedroom or an empty wall in a study and wellness area; it goes well with pale wood, white and concrete, and the coloured segments enliven the greys of japandi interiors. A Hilma af Klint print also works in a yoga studio and a modern office as a point of focus. We recommend a square format, as in the original, in a large size. On 5 mm acrylic glass the geometry takes on a glassy depth and intensity, while on Dibond the colours stay matt and calm. In the artMonte configurator you enter any dimension, and we fit the print precisely to your wall.

About the artwork
On a square canvas a black and white circle contains a multicoloured wheel divided into segments in shades of pink, blue, yellow and green. The painting of 1915 belongs to the cycle The Swan (Group IX/SUW), in which Hilma af Klint moved from realistic images of a white and a black swan to pure geometry. The cycle was part of The Paintings for the Temple, painted in 1906-1915 under the influence of spiritualism and theosophy. Today she is recognised as a pioneer of abstraction, ahead of Kandinsky and Mondrian.
