A print of “Bacchus” by Caravaggio on your wall
A glass of wine held out towards the viewer is the most hospitable gesture in the history of painting. Caravaggio filled the picture of Bacchus with sensuality: a basket of juicy fruit, gleaming glass and the roguish gaze of the young god. A Bacchus print is ideal wall art for a dining room, a living room with a drinks cabinet, a wine bar or a restaurant, where it underlines the atmosphere of feasting. The white of the drapery, the burgundy of the wine and warm browns combine with dark oak, bottle green, velvet and golden accents. The vertical, almost square format hangs beautifully above a sideboard or table. Printing on Dibond renders the matt, oily light of the Italian Baroque, while on 5 mm acrylic glass the red of the wine takes on a true glow. Lighter PVC board works well in restaurants and bars. Set any dimensions in the artMonte configurator.

About the artwork
The young god of wine, a wreath of vine leaves on his head, offers the viewer a glass of red wine, and before him lies a basket of ripe and partly rotten fruit. Caravaggio painted the canvas around 1596-1597, probably on commission from Cardinal Francesco del Monte. The realistic treatment of a mythological subject, with the model's dirty fingernails and flushed cheeks, was a provocation at the time. The still life of fruit also hints at transience. The painting hangs in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence.
