A print of “The Roses of Heliogabalus” by Lawrence Alma-Tadema on your wall
A sea of pink petals, marble, silk and gold - The Roses of Heliogabalus is a painting hard to tear your eyes from, and one of the most decorative motifs in nineteenth-century art. A print of The Roses of Heliogabalus suits a classic-style living room with pale sofas, a bedroom in shades of powder pink and the restaurant or lobby of a boutique hotel, where a feast on the wall justifies itself. The wide, horizontal crop asks for a large wall; as photo wallpaper the petals scatter across the whole surface and the room becomes part of a Roman banquet. Dibond keeps the matt, noble texture of the marble; 5 mm acrylic glass brings out the sheen of the silks and the gleam of light on the petals. An Alma-Tadema painting in a beauty salon builds a mood of luxury without a single word. You enter any size in the artMonte configurator, and the print reaches you fitted to the wall.

The Roses of Heliogabalus
About the artwork
The young emperor Heliogabalus looks down from a dais on a banquet at which his guests drown in an avalanche of rose petals dropped from above - according to ancient chronicles some of the revellers were said to have suffocated. Alma-Tadema painted the scene in 1888 on commission from John Aird and throughout the winter had fresh roses sent from the Riviera so as to render them with botanical accuracy. The painting remains in a private collection and is regarded as the supreme example of the Victorian vision of ancient Rome.
