A print of “The Beguiling of Merlin” by Edward Burne-Jones on your wall
The white of flowering hawthorn, the navy gown of the enchantress and the serpentine lines of the branches woven into a single, hypnotic composition - The Beguiling of Merlin brings something of a fairy tale into an interior. The slender vertical of the Burne-Jones painting perfectly fills a narrow wall: between the windows of an English-style living room, in the hall of a boutique hotel, at the end of a corridor. It feels at home next to dark wood, bottle green and brass, but also enlivens bright, minimalist bedrooms. A print of The Beguiling of Merlin in a large format, around 150 cm high, lets you see every flower and every fold of the gown. On 5 mm acrylic glass the colours gain depth and a glassy brilliance; on Dispa board they become light and matt like an illustration from an old book. This is wall art for people looking for something more than decoration - and an exceptional romantic gift. You set the size in the artMonte configurator without limits: we print it exactly for your wall.

The Beguiling of Merlin
About the artwork
The enchantress Nimue, bent over a book of spells, casts a charm on Merlin, who slumps helplessly into a thicket of flowering hawthorn. The subject comes from the Arthurian legends: the wizard revealed to his pupil the secret with which she imprisoned him. Burne-Jones painted the picture in 1872-1877 for Frederick Leyland, and gave Nimue the features of Maria Zambaco, with whom he had a stormy affair. The canvas, shown at the opening of the Grosvenor Gallery in 1877, became one of the symbols of Aestheticism.
