A print of “The Art of Painting” by Johannes Vermeer on your wall
The heavy curtain drawn aside works like an invitation into the artist's studio, and the light from the window gently picks out the blue of the model's robes. Johannes Vermeer treated the picture as a manifesto of his craft, so a print of The Art of Painting will speak especially to creative people - it works as wall art for a study, studio, home office or library. Cool blues, warm ochres and the chequerboard floor suit interiors in white and navy, with oak parquet and linen fabrics. The vertical, almost square crop looks good above a desk or console. On Dibond it preserves the softness of the light, and 5 mm acrylic glass gives it a sheen gently reminiscent of varnish. Large-scale wallpaper creates the illusion of stepping into a seventeenth-century studio. In the artMonte configurator you choose any dimensions, fitted to your wall.

The Art of Painting
About the artwork
The painting, made around 1666-1668, shows a painter at his easel, his back turned, and a model in the role of Clio, the muse of history, with a trumpet and a book in her hands. A drawn-back curtain leads the viewer into the studio, on whose wall hangs a large map of the Netherlands. Johannes Vermeer evidently valued this canvas especially, as it remained in his family after the artist's death. Today it belongs to the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna and is regarded as the artistic manifesto of the master of Delft.
