A print of “Blossoming Chestnut Branches” by Vincent van Gogh on your wall
Fresh green, white blossom and a clear blue sky - Blossoming Chestnut Branches bring the mood of a May morning into the home. It is a Van Gogh painting less famous than Sunflowers but just as decorative, ideal for bright living rooms, Scandinavian-style bedrooms and rooms with plenty of plants. A print of Blossoming Chestnut Branches combines beautifully with white, pale oak, linen and ceramics in shades of blue. The horizontal crop works above a sofa or bed, and at large scale the motif works like botanical wallpaper, especially in a dining room or spacious hall. Dibond gives the picture a calm, matt character, 5 mm acrylic glass draws out the intensity of the sky, and eco-friendly Dispa board is a light material for a child's room. Blossoming Chestnut Branches
About the artwork
Branches of horse chestnut with white clusters of flowers fill almost the entire canvas against an intensely blue sky. Van Gogh painted the picture in May 1890, soon after moving to Auvers-sur-Oise, in the last months of his life. The close-up of the motif and the decorative treatment of the branches point to the inspiration of Japanese art, which the artist admired all his life. The painting shows his unceasing fascination with nature awakening. The canvas belongs to the E.G. Bührle Foundation in Zurich.
