A print of “Flood at Port-Marly” by Alfred Sisley on your wall
A grey-blue sky, a calm sheet of water and the warm walls of a house - Flood at Port-Marly captivates with its stillness and subtle palette. Sisley painted the picture with exceptional sensitivity to light, which is why a print of Flood at Port-Marly works so well wherever calm is needed: in a bedroom, a reading room, a study or a living room decorated in greys, blues and white. It suits classic interiors with wood as well as modern Scandinavian-style schemes. The proportions of the canvas favour a horizontal crop close to a square, and in a panoramic version the motif gains even more breathing space. As wallpaper it brings the effect of a riverside view into the room. On Dibond the colours remain soft and matt; on 5 mm acrylic glass the water takes on depth. Wall art for lovers of less obvious Impressionism. In the artMonte configurator you can give any size.

Flood at Port-Marly
About the artwork
The swollen Seine has flooded the streets of Port-Marly, and in front of the wine merchant's with its Saint-Nicolas sign rock the boats in which the residents move about the town. Sisley witnessed the flood in the spring of 1876 and painted it in several versions, focusing not on the drama but on the calm play of light, sky and water. The painting, one of the best known in the artist's output, shows well his talent for the subtle observation of landscape and atmosphere.
