A print of “Still Life with Flowers on a Marble Tabletop” by Rachel Ruysch on your wall
Roses, velvety darkness and cold marble - Rachel Ruysch's still life is Baroque opulence that works like a jewel in a modern interior. The picture suits a dining room with a dark table and upholstered chairs, a kitchen with black fronts and a stone worktop (the marble in the painting and the marble in the kitchen are a natural pairing), a living room in bottle green and burgundy, and a hotel restaurant with a classic menu. The proportion is vertical, close to 4:5; we recommend a format larger than the original, hung alone on a dark wall. On 5 mm acrylic glass the black of the ground takes on the depth of old varnish and the petals shine as if freshly painted; Dibond gives a matt, calm version. A Ruysch print in your dimensions: give them in the artMonte configurator and we will print the picture for your wall.

Still Life with Flowers on a Marble Tabletop
About the artwork
A lush bouquet of roses and other garden flowers emerges from a dark background, set on a cool marble tabletop; every petal and drooping leaf is rendered with botanical precision. Rachel Ruysch painted the picture in 1716, towards the end of the period when she was court painter to the Elector Palatine Johann Wilhelm in Düsseldorf. The daughter of the anatomist and botanist Frederik Ruysch was among the most highly regarded and best-paid painters in the Netherlands of her day. The canvas is in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
