A print of “The Scream” by Edvard Munch on your wall
Not every piece of wall art has to be calming. Edvard Munch's The Scream is a work with character that turns a wall into a manifesto - which is why it is chosen by design lovers, creative studios and owners of interiors with an edge. The fiery orange of the sky, the cool navy of the fjord and the undulating lines contrast superbly with graphite walls, concrete and black industrial-style frames. This Munch painting in a vertical format fills a wall in a hallway, study or teenager's room well. A print of The Scream on 5 mm acrylic glass gives the colours the intensity of a gallery poster, while Dibond preserves the matt, pastel texture of the cardboard. Looking for something stronger? Large-scale wallpaper turns a hallway into an art installation. In the artMonte configurator you can order The Scream in any size - from a small format above a desk to an entire wall.

The Scream
About the artwork
The Scream shows a figure with a skull-like face clutching its head on a bridge against a blazing red-orange sky above a fjord. Edvard Munch created this version in 1893 in oil, tempera and pastel on cardboard, returning to the motif in later years. The artist described the source of the picture as the sensation of a great scream passing through nature. The work in the National Museum in Oslo has become a universal symbol of existential dread and an icon of Expressionism.
