A print of “Willow” by William Morris on your wall
This pattern was born as a wallpaper, so as wallpaper it feels perfectly at home. William Morris's Willow is a cascade of leaves in sage greens, olive and cream - a soothing palette made for a bedroom, a bathroom with wood or a cosy reading nook. Morris's design is a repeating pattern, so you can order it in any proportion: a narrow vertical strip, a square or a long panorama, and the motif always fills the frame naturally. A print of the Willow pattern on Dibond looks like a decorative panel in an English cottage; on 5 mm acrylic glass the leaves gain freshness and depth. William Morris wall art is a good choice for country, Scandinavian and modern biophilic design. As bedroom wall art it soothes; as wallpaper behind the bed it wraps the whole room in green. Willow
About the artwork
Willow is a wallpaper pattern designed by William Morris in 1874, showing densely interwoven, elongated willow leaves against a background of fine twigs. The design was hand-printed from wooden blocks, in keeping with the ideals of the Arts and Crafts movement, which Morris co-founded in opposition to mass industrial production. The observation of nature is here transformed into a rhythmic, flat ornament. The example in the collection of the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum in New York documents one of the most enduring patterns in the history of design.
