A print of “Trellis” by William Morris on your wall
Roses climbing a trellis, perching birds and a light background - Trellis is the most garden-like of Morris's patterns. As wallpaper or patterned wallpaper it opens up an interior, which is why it feels at home in a child's room, bedroom, conservatory or bright dining room. A Trellis print brings English style in its lightest, most rural guise. Delicate greens, pinks and blues suit white, whitewashed wood, rattan and floral porcelain. This botanical pattern in a vertical crop can hang like a window onto the garden, and as a panorama it creates a soothing wall behind the bed. William Morris wall art on Dibond has a matt, papery character, and 5 mm acrylic glass gives the colours a spring freshness. The first chapter of Arts and Crafts on your wall. About the artwork
Trellis of 1864 was the first wallpaper pattern designed by William Morris. The motif of a wooden trellis overgrown with roses was inspired by the garden of his home, Red House in Bexleyheath, and the birds were drawn by the architect Philip Webb. The wallpaper, hand-printed from blocks, combines a simple, geometric structure with the attentive observation of nature. The design opens the history of Morris's firm and of the entire Arts and Crafts movement in the field of interior decoration.
