A print of “Stańczyk” by Jan Matejko on your wall
A single patch of red against a dark interior, a pensive face and a silence that says more than the ball beyond the door. Matejko's Stańczyk is a painting for people who value reflection - a print of Stańczyk finds its place in a study, a library, a law office or a room in a period building with high ceilings and dark oak furniture. The red of the jester's costume enlivens interiors in greys, graphite and bottle green. We recommend a horizontal format close to the original, in a full crop or a tight close-up of the figure, which gives an intimate, almost portrait-like effect. 5 mm acrylic glass deepens the black of the background and adds brilliance to the red; Dibond gives the print the noble matt finish of a classic gallery. Matejko wall art in any dimensions - in the artMonte configurator you give the centimetres and we match the print to your wall.

Stańczyk
About the artwork
The court jester in red sits alone, lost in thought, while beyond the door a lavish ball is in progress at the court of Queen Bona. On the table lies a letter with news of the loss of Smolensk to Muscovy in 1514, and outside the window an ominous comet shines. Matejko painted the picture in 1862, at the age of 24, and gave Stańczyk his own features. The work opened his great cycle on the history of Poland and became a symbol of wisdom that no one listens to.
