A print of “The Battle of Grunwald” by Jan Matejko on your wall
The red of the banners, the steel of the armour and a tangle of horses - Matejko's Battle of Grunwald is a painting every Pole knows, yet hardly anyone has on their own wall. A large-format print of The Battle of Grunwald is a powerful accent for a chief executive's office, a law firm, a conference room or a classic-style living room with dark wood and leather. We recommend Jan Matejko wall art as a wide panorama - the original has a proportion of almost 1:2.3, so it looks best as a long frieze above a sofa or a conference table. On Dibond the matt surface calms the dense composition and underlines its museum character, and as wallpaper the battle will fill a whole office wall and become the backdrop to important meetings. Enter the exact width of your wall in the artMonte configurator, choose the crop, and we will print the panorama to your dimensions.

The Battle of Grunwald
About the artwork
In the centre of the monumental canvas Grand Duke Vytautas of Lithuania, in red, raises his sword; on the left the Grand Master Ulrich von Jungingen dies under the blows of the infantry, and in the background Władysław Jagiełło watches the battle of 15 July 1410. Matejko painted the picture between 1872 and 1878 and showed it in Warsaw, and Kraków presented him with the sceptre of the "king of art" for it. During the occupation the canvas was hidden from the Germans, who had put a price on its surrender. It is the most famous work of Polish history painting.
