A print of “Jewish Woman with Oranges (Pomarańczarka)” by Aleksander Gierymski on your wall
Oranges blazing in baskets, the grey of an autumn embankment and a face that holds the whole of Warsaw of a hundred years ago - Gierymski's Orange Seller is a painting with a history. A print of Jewish Woman with Oranges finds its place in a Warsaw period flat, in a café, in a historian's study, in a hotel evoking the atmosphere of old Powiśle and in a living room with vintage furniture, brick and muted green. It is also an eloquent gift for someone who loves Warsaw. The original is vertical and intimate, so we recommend a vertical format in the full crop, to keep the baskets of fruit and the river in the background. On Dibond the greys of the Vistula gain a matt depth, and 5 mm acrylic glass sets the oranges alight with a juicy brilliance. We will prepare Gierymski wall art in any dimensions - enter them in the artMonte configurator and we will match the print to your wall.

Jewish Woman with Oranges (Pomarańczarka)
About the artwork
An elderly Jewish woman in a headscarf stands on the embankment of Warsaw's Powiśle district with baskets of oranges, and behind her stretches the Vistula with a bridge in misty light. Gierymski painted the picture in 1880-1881, during his fascination with the life of Warsaw's poor, with realist tenderness for the tired face of the street vendor. The canvas went missing during the Second World War; found in 2010 at an auction in Germany, it returned to the National Museum in Warsaw in 2011.
