A print of “The Tower of Babel” by Pieter Bruegel Starszy on your wall
Ochre, brick red and the cool blue of the sky build a scene that holds the eye for long minutes: hundreds of miniature figures, scaffolding, boats and a tower rising towards the clouds. Bruegel's Tower of Babel is wall art for those who love discovering details - ideal for a study, a library, a law office or a conference room where dark wood, leather and brass form a serious, classic backdrop. A print of The Tower of Babel looks best in a horizontal crop and a large format, because only then do the minutiae perfected by the master reveal themselves. On Dibond the matt surface calms the rich composition and gives it a museum character, and as wallpaper it turns a whole wall into a Renaissance panorama. In the artMonte configurator you give the exact dimensions of your wall and choose the fragment you want to look at up close.

The Tower of Babel
About the artwork
A monumental spiral structure rises above a seaside city and a harbour full of ships, its upper storeys vanishing into the clouds. Bruegel modelled the construction on the Colosseum in Rome, which he had seen on his journey to Italy; in the foreground King Nimrod receives the homage of the stonemasons. The painting of 1563, executed on an oak panel, remains the best-known painted treatment of the biblical story of human pride and the confusion of tongues.
