A print of “Sunlight in the Blue Room” by Anna Ancher on your wall
The blue of the walls, patches of sunlight and a little girl bent over her knitting - Anna Ancher's Sunlight in the Blue Room is an interior where you would want to spend a whole afternoon. The Anna Ancher painting suits a bedroom and a child's room in shades of blue and white, a kitchen with pale wood and linen curtains, and a living room decorated in the spirit of hygge; the warm light on the canvas softens even cool, north-facing rooms. A print of Sunlight in the Blue Room looks best in a vertical crop, in proportions close to the original, hung where real light from a window falls. 5 mm acrylic glass brings out the luminous rectangles on the wall and gives the blues depth, while Dibond keeps the soft, matt character of Skagen painting. In the artMonte configurator you enter your own dimensions, and we print the picture exactly for your wall.

Sunlight in the Blue Room
About the artwork
A little girl sits on a chair beneath the window, absorbed in her knitting, while the sun draws bright rectangles and the shadows of plants from the windowsill on the blue wall. The model is Helga, the artist's daughter, and the interior is the grandmother's room in the Brøndum hotel in Skagen, run by Anna Ancher's family. Anna Ancher painted the picture in 1891, making not the figure but the light itself the main subject. The canvas in the Skagens Museum is regarded as one of the most important works of the only woman among the Skagen painters.
